The Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees have appointed the Nominating Committee and the Election Committee, consistent with the Samaj Constitution. Following is a list of the Nomination and Election Committee members:

Samaj is seeking nominations for the position of the Executive Committee for the year 2009. Nominee for the Executive Committee position must be in good standing for the year 2007 & 2008, at least twenty-one years old, a voting member of the Samaj for at least two years, and must be Gujarati. If you are interested, Nomination forms are available in the Samaj Office and at the Continental Inn (758 S. Central Expway, Richardson, TX ). The Nomination form should reach the Samaj Office on or before October 25, 2008.
From the received nomination forms , the Nomination Committee shall propose the initial slate of Executive Committee Members to the Election committee by Oct. 31, 2008. The Election Committee will communicate (via Phone Call, E-Mail, Samaj WEB site or posting it at the SAMAJ office) to the candidates of the initial slate by Nov.5, 2008. The Samaj constitution allows you to file your nomination as a petition candidate if your name is not considered in the initial slate by November 10, 2008. If you are eligible and are interested in running as a petition candidate, please contact the Election or Nomination Committee Chairman.
The Nomination Committee shall review all petition candidate applications received by November 10, 2008 and finalize its slate by November 20, 2008. If no petitions are received, the Nomination Committee slate shall be deemed elected.
Election will be held only if the petition candidate applications are received and the petition candidates are not included in the Nomination Committee final slate. In the event of an election, the Election Committee will set a date and place for the election and will notify all eligible members. Please note that, in accordance with the Samaj Constitution, our Vice President for the calendar year 2008 will automatically become the President for the calendar year 2008( Except: If The Board of Trustees with a vote of 75 % majority recommend that the present President Continue for second one year term, than in such case the present Vice- President will serve second one year term and may be President Elect the following year ).
The Annual General Body Meeting will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Samaj office at 777 S. Central Express ways, Suite 2-G, Richardson, Texas. 75080
